The Fellows Programme aims to attract individuals such as PhD students, researchers, and professors with advanced expertise and experience in various fields relevant to the Organization. These fellows are committed to fulfilling their specialized learning goals while also sharing their technical knowledge and expertise through time-bound engagements with FAO.

Assignments under the program align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO’s Strategic Framework to advance the 2030 Agenda by promoting more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agri-food systems for improved production, nutrition, environmental impact, and overall quality of life, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) or currently enrolled in a PhD program at a legitimate educational institution, or a recent graduate. Be aware that FAO exclusively recognizes higher educational qualifications from institutions accredited or acknowledged in the World Higher Education Database (WHED), a list maintained and updated by the International Association of Universities (IAU) in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
  • Minimum of two years of relevant working or research experience in one of the fields of the Organization.
  • Fluency in a minimum of one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is required. Proficiency in a second FAO language is considered beneficial.
  • Demonstrated capacity to acclimate to an international, diverse setting and possess strong communication abilities.
  • Individuals who are citizens of FAO member countries are welcome to apply.
