The PS VR2 Headset Finally Revealed

The PS VR2 Headset Finally Revealed. Sony officially first confirmed their upcoming PS VR2 Headset this time last year. They said that they were working on a next-generation PlayStation VR headset that would work with the PS5.

The PS VR2 Headset Finally Revealed

Ever since then, Sony has only been offering us minute details about the headset. They started by showing us the headset controllers and then, at the beginning of this year, they announced a new PS VR2 game set in the “Horizon” series called “Horizon Call of the mountain.”

The PS VR2 Headset Finally Revealed

Alongside that reveal of “Horizon call of the mountain,” Sony gave an announcement concerning the latest specifications for PS VR2, but unfortunately, there was no image to give users a much better description of what they were talking about.

Finally, Sony has corrected that oversight today, and they have revealed the PS VR2 headset in all its glory. Alongside it, we also get to see an updated pair of controllers that seems at least a bit different from what we saw back in March 2021. For all those that have long awaited the reveal of the PS VR2, well the reveals have finally arrived.

PS5 Finally Gets it PS VR Match

Right away, the most notable difference when it comes to design is the fact that the PS VR2 is a mostly white headset with black accents while the original PS VR comes in black with white accents.

The color scheme of the VR headset has been changed, in other words, but there’s good reason for that as Sony states on the PlayStation Blog that the headset look was inspired by the PlayStation 5 aesthetics. That assumes, that you’ve still got a white PlayStation 5 right under the TV and are yet to opt for the swappable colored side panels Sony now has for sale.

In any case, Sony stated that it places its focus on getting the ergonomics right in the PS VR2 and that the headband has been kept mostly unchanged from the original. Just as well, The PS VR2 features an adjustable scope and a headphone jack just as the original PS VR did, so several things would remain the same with this jump between generations.

Some Changes Would be accommodated by the PS VR2

While there remain some major similarities between the PS VR headset and the first, there are also some changes in the way. Outside of the obvious bump up in hardware, Sony states that the PS VR2 will be arriving with a lens adjustment dial that will allow users to “optimize their view.”

This new PS VR2 headset is expected to be a little bit slimmer and even a little lighter than that of the original, even though Sony is bringing in a motor for rumble feedback this time around. While the PS VR2 comes with a much smaller look than the original even in these product shots, it seems that we would be expecting only a small reduction in weight.

To add, presenting the PS VR2 headset for the very first time, Sony revealed the final version of the PS VR2 Sense controllers. Not many changes would be carried out from the first iteration of these controllers, as they seem to feature exactly the same orb-like design that we saw back in March 2021. The major difference here is the new white and black color scheme that matches the headset – previously, the controllers were revealed with an all-black design.
