They want to train more experts who can come up with, plan, and put into action solutions in countries that are still developing. Every year, this partnership gives out scholarships for students studying at IHE Delft in the Netherlands.

The goal of these scholarships is to build strong, lasting connections between Rotarians and skilled water and sanitation professionals in their communities. Since they started working together in 2012, they’ve already given out over 165 scholarships.

What is the Eligibility?

To be selected, the candidate must be academically accepted into the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education’s MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development, to any of the following thematic tracks:

  • Water and Health
  • Water, Food, and Energy
  • Water Resources and Ecosystems Health
  • Water Hazards, Risks, and Climate

Once a candidate is considered suitable, the sponsoring Rotary Club, along with the candidate, submits a fully completed application form to the joint Rotary/IHE Delft selection committee (details provided below). This submission should also be copied to the District Governor and District Rotary Foundation Chair of their district.

Benefits of This Scholarship

Those who will receive this scholarship will get all the support they need by staying connected with Rotarians from their home country.

They also have the opportunity to interact with Rotarians in the Netherlands. The network of Rotary alumni is vast, including past scholarship recipients and Rotarians from all over the world.

Getting involved with a local Rotary Club and the alumni association will help the recipients stay connected to Rotary’s global community and access valuable resources.

What is the Application Process?

Students who are accepted into the Master of Science program in Water and Sustainable Development (68EC) at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education have the opportunity to be nominated for a scholarship.

This nomination can be done by a local Rotary Club in the student’s home community. To apply, you need to submit the scholarship application form, along with your resume and the admission letter from IHE Delft, to the Rotary/IHE Delft committee in the Netherlands.
