Applications for the MLOVE Fellowship Program 2024-25 are now Open. The Mwangi Mukami Leaders of Openness, Virtue & Empathy (MLOVE) Fellowship Program, welcomes applications from young leaders to kick-start a journey of impact and growth.
Instituted in 2017 as the Summer Leaders’ Summit & Retreat, MLOVE has evolved into a premier, multidisciplinary, and multicultural fellowship designed for under-resourced, high-impacting, and high-potential NextGen leaders.
The MLOVE Fellowship Program is a 12-month leadership program that provides young leaders with a unique and vulnerable space to be human, establishing collaboration and partnerships with fellow participants.
MLOVE Fellowship Program – Details
MLOVE welcomes ten (10) Fellows annually, urging them to envision their place on a global stage. Leveraging MLIFE’s vast global network, resources, and expertise, participants are empowered to realize their education, career, and entrepreneurship goals with a profound impact on the world.
MLOVE Fellows are not left to navigate this journey alone. They receive a financial stipend, invaluable mentorship and coaching, and a toolkit equipped with the essential tools needed to ideate, define, and execute strategies that give them a distinct advantage.
The program is not confined to virtual interactions; it demands a physical presence. Participants will participate in 15 days of required in-person events, including a 2-day orientation, 3 weekend community retreats, and a 2-day reunion a year after the program concludes.
Benefits of participating in the MLOVE Fellowship Program
- MLOVE Fellows will have access to six 1:1 coaching sessions and attend three “The Future is Human” Leadership Retreats.
- Bi-Weekly Mentorship Sessions
- Participants receive a stipend each month for the entire year of experience. Additionally, winners of the MLIFE Fellows Hackathon may secure a minimum startup fee of kshs.100,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age and Leadership Potential: The MLOVE Fellowship Program is open to individuals aged 21-35
- Applicants must demonstrate leadership skills or the potential for growth in both for-profit and non-profit organizations.
- Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to learning about intersectionality and inclusion
- Interpersonal Skills is a key criterion for selection, Candidates must display remarkable interpersonal skills in writing, speaking, or collaborating with others.
- English Language Fluency: This encompasses reading, writing, and speaking, ensuring effective communication throughout the program.
- Applicants must submit three recommendation letters from family, community, academia, and professional spheres.

Program Schedule
- Orientation/Launch: July 31 – August 1: The program commences with a collective gathering of MLOVE Fellows. Both current and alumni, to share expectations and experiences, setting the tone for the transformative year ahead.
- Quarters Defined: August-July: The 12-month program is divided into four quarters. Each focuses on a specific theme: Communication, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Fundraising.
