Insomniac finally responds to the hack that leaked its games and many more. The hack in question led to the exposure of millions of company files including personal employee information as well as a playable build of the Wolverine game.
Insomniac Finally Responds To Hack
Insomniac Games has just released a statement a couple of days after a ransomware attack exposed millions of files which is inclusive of sensitive employee information, confidential business information, as well as assets for in-development games.
“We’re both saddened and angered about the recent criminal cyberattack on our studio and the emotional toll it’s taken on our team,” the statement that was posted on X read. “We have focused inwardly for several days to support each other.”
The Group behind the Hack
The hack as you should know was carried out by the Rhysida hacker group, who in question ransomed the data for $2 million in Bitcoin. And when the ransom was not paid, the hackers disseminated the information that is inclusive of Insomniac internal business plans, budget information, in-development assets for the upcoming Wolverine game from the studio, as well as employee personal identifiable information.
The response of Insomniac has focused on the impact that this hack has had on its employees and has therefore reassured fans that work on Wolverine continues apace.
“Marvel’s Wolverine continues as planned. The game is in production and will no doubt evolve throughout development, as do all our plans. We will share official information about Marvel’s Wolverine when the time is right.”
A Playable PC Build of Wolverine Found In the Hacked Files
However, all of that has not stopped a playable PC build of Wolverine from being found in the hacked files. There are several warnings for potential game spoilers in regards to would-be pirates as downloading the said game file could result in legal action from Insomniac as well as the threat of the build that contains hacker-implanted malicious software.
