Since 2004, the IIE has presented the IIE Victor J. Goldberg Prize for Peace in the Middle East every year. The award acknowledges exceptional collaborative efforts between an Israeli Jew and an Arab Muslim, regardless of Israeli citizenship, aimed at promoting peace in the region.
Goals of IIE Victor J. Goldberg Prize for Peace
The prize aims to:
- Promote peace in the Middle East.
- Recognize and reward individuals who show courage and dedication in addressing the religious, cultural, ethnic, and political divisions in the region.
- Encourage efforts to overcome animosity toward others.
- Acknowledge innovative approaches.
- Inspire grassroots initiatives and demonstrate their value for broader recognition.
Despite the escalating challenges, the organizers remain steadfast in their commitment to uplifting and supporting partnerships that work toward peace. The Goldberg Prize selection committee is dedicated to continuing to honor and encourage these efforts, serving as a beacon of hope.
Nominations for the 2024 IIE Goldberg Prize should outline the work conducted before the current conflict, specify whether it is ongoing or paused, and indicate any adjustments made to address the present situation.
Prize
- The prize is awarded to the two individuals whose efforts are deemed most effective in uniting people and achieving the prize’s objectives. They will share a prize of US $20,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nominations may be submitted by either the individuals themselves or by a third party.
- The nominees must consist of one Israeli Jew and one Arab Muslim, regardless of Israeli citizenship, collaborating to promote peace in the Middle East.
