Applications are open for the 2024 edition of the EcoSciGen Climate Research Workshop. The six-month Climate Research Workshop welcomes Individuals from Africa between the ages of 18 and 26 who are enthusiastic about tackling climate change challenges, to participate in a unique training program.
As the first climate literacy school in Nigeria, EcoSciGen takes great delight in providing fundamental research skills and in-depth understanding about climate issues to young people, especially those from marginalized communities. The organization works to encourage grassroots climate innovation and action.
Climate Research Workshop – Details
The goal of this six-month program is to provide young people with the information and abilities necessary to work as independent climate researchers through training sessions, intellectual development, capacity building, and knowledge exchange.
The initiative will transform young people’s views in Africa about climate change. Instead than being seen as merely a problem, it offers a chance for people to have a significant influence and help improve the state of the climate.
Benefits of the Climate Research Workshop
- The first step in the EcoSciGen Climate Research Workshop is scientific research training, which is a three-monthly, beginner-friendly program that aims to prepare participants to be skilled writers and science communicators.
- Participants will receive an in-depth understanding of climate change and its intersections during the climate change training that follows the research training.
- Following four (4) months of training, participants will work together to conduct climate change research that will be published in peer-reviewed publications for a further two (2) months.
Eligibility Requirements for Climate Research Workshop
To be eligible for the Climate Research Workshop, young scholars must:
- Show that they are dedicated to tackling climate change in their local area;
- Be between the ages of 18 and 26 on March 1, 2024, the workshop’s commencement date;
- Possess excellent written and speaking English;
- Be a graduate or undergraduate in a STEM discipline.
- Assume responsibility for finishing the workshop by August 30 and for guiding those following it.
- Possess internet and email access to enable regular communication throughout the session with the EcoSciGen team and mentors;
- Respect the graduation requirements of the Climate Research Workshop (which will be given out if you are accepted into the program).
