Some bad news for Fans of The Boys, well, at least in regards to the upcoming appearance of its villain in Mortal Kombat 1.

Antony Starr, who is the actor who plays the role of Homelander in the Prime Video TV series The Boys, has just recently confirmed that he will not be reprising his role for the Mortal Kombat 1 DLC addition in the coming year.

And just as reported by Eurogamer, Starr reportedly confirmed as much via his own Instagram account. Starr in response to a fan asking him if he is set to reprise his role as Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 replied with a very simple and blunt “nope.”

The developer of Mortal Kombat 1Netherrealm Studios is still yet to confirm who will be voicing Homelander for the playable appearance of the character in the game. But the sad news of the absence of Starr has disappointed fans. And in reference to his Instagram reply, one fan on Reddit stated: “Not to be dramatic, but this is the most devastating one-word answer in human history.”

What Starr Not Reprising His Role As Homelander In Mortal Kombat 1 Mean

Starr not reprising his role as Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 as you should know comes in stark contrast to the approach of the game to Invincible’s Omni-Man. Actor J.K. Simmons, in the game, returns to reprise his role as the animated show’s villain.

Simmons as you should know is not the only familiar face that is making a return here, either. Peacemaker of DC will also be joining Mortal Kombat 1 as a DLC guest character in the next couple of months. Ed Boon The director of the game, has now confirmed that John Cena will return to voice the character and also retain his likeness from The Suicide Squad movie.

The Reason Why Starr Is Not Lending His Voice to Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1

It is still not clear as to why Starr is not lending his voice to Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 as of yet, but this is not the first time that a guest character in the series has kept their physical likeness without being present in lending their voice. In Mortal Kombat 11, The Terminator in question was featured as a DLC fighter, reportedly complete with the likeness of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Unfortunately, though, the Austrian action star did not get to voice the character in-game.

The Best Fighting Games of 2023

Mortal Kombat 1 as you should know is among the best fighting games that you can play in 2023. Its first DLC Kombat Pack is currently underway, too, thus enabling players to step into Omni-Man’s superhuman shoes. And alongside Peacemaker and Homelander, he will reportedly be joined by veteran MK fighters Ermac, Takeda, and Quan-Chi all through 2024.
