The East Africa Acumen Fellowship is an intensive leadership initiative that assembles a group of exceptional individuals dedicated to addressing issues of poverty. Fellowship curriculum
Fellowship curriculum highlights below:
- Polarities Management: Foster the capacity to effectively lead in situations where conflicting but interconnected values are in tension.
- Good Society Reading: Investigate the concept of a just society and the moral and historical groundwork of societal change through classical and contemporary writings by thinkers such as Plato, Ursula K. LeGuin, Chimamanda Adichie, Dr. Martin Luther King, and Amartya Sen.
- Adaptive Leadership: Gain an understanding of what it means to catalyze change at personal, organizational, and societal levels, navigating uncertainty and embracing the gradual process that constitutes meaningful change.
- Authentic Voice: Develop the ability to construct meaningful stories that resonate across diverse perspectives and compel others to take action.
Who Are They Looking For?
- The Fellowship seeks individuals who are actively tackling poverty-related challenges, whether as founders, CEOs, senior leaders in various sectors, or intrapreneurs in corporate or government settings. While job titles are indicative, the primary focus is on the substance of your work and the impact you have made.
- Applicants are required to have at least five years of professional experience and demonstrate a strong dedication to addressing poverty-related issues.
- In addition, candidates should showcase their willingness to contribute (by sharing knowledge, experiences, networks, or ideas) and receive support from the Foundry.
- Furthermore, applicants must have consistent internet access, full availability for the program’s duration, and proficiency in English.
