Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship: What to Expect

Your host needs to be employed overseas, a member of the Humboldt Network, or the beneficiary of one of a few prestigious international academic honors. The Humboldt Foundation anticipates that academic hosts will contribute to the fellowship’s funding. Their share should be roughly one-third of the total fellowship amount.

The fellowship amount differs depending on the target nation and state of life. There is also reimbursement for travel expenditures.
General terms and allowances for families: Throughout fellow’s sponsorship, they will receive individual support in addition to the fellowship money. The start date of the fellowship is negotiable.
German academics traveling abroad with their families receive additional money for their research stays. If your children are staying with you, the foundation also offers a kid allowance in addition to a family allowance for the accompanying spouse. In that case, fellows can apply for childcare support such as a subsidy for childcare costs.
Alumni programmes: The Humboldt Foundation will also assist Fellows in reintegrating in Germany, including subsidies for job interviews or the possibility of a twelve-month return fellowship.

Eligibility Requirements for Qualification

Postdocs: The prospective Candidate must have obtained a doctorate within the last four years or within six months of completion, with publications in internationally reviewed academic journals and houses.
Experienced Researchers: Applicants who are experienced Researchers, are required to have a doctorate completed within the last twelve years, an extensive publication record in internationally reviewed academic journals, as well as evidence of an independent academic profile.

Application Deadline

The Selection Committee for Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship meets every February, June, and October. All successfully submitted applications will be processed within four to seven months.
