Grant Funding

DBT offers a monthly stipend of Rs. 37,000 + HRA for the first two years and Rs. 42,000 + HRA from the 3rd year onward. Additionally, there’s health insurance of Rs. 600 per month. Fellows also get a yearly contingency amount of Rs. 50,000 and can avail House Rent Allowance following the Government of India rules. It’s important to note that the fellowship cannot be converted into foreign currency.

  • Citizenship: Nationals of developing countries (excluding India, details at No existing visa for residency in India or any developed country. Hold a Master’s or equivalent degree in science or engineering.

  • For SANDWICH Fellowships: Must be registered PhD students in their home country with a “Registration and No Objection Certificate” from the home university. OR, for FULL-TIME Fellowships: Willing to register at an Indian university.
