The Swiss Re Foundation Entrepreneurs for Resilience Award 2024 especially encourages proposals from social entrepreneurs who want to enhance low-income individuals’ access to high-quality primary healthcare in low-income communities (LMICs) by providing a hybrid delivery model that blends a physical point of service with helpful digital tools.

Selected social entrepreneurs working on a hybrid delivery model will be supported by the award, In order to increase low-income people’s access to high-quality primary healthcare in low- and middle-income countries.

Rewards and Benefits of the Entrepreneurs for Resilience Award

  • A grant prize totaling USD 700,000 will be awarded to the three finalists.
  • This sum is distributed in stages over two years to the two runners-up and the winning project, which might receive up to USD 350000.

Requirements

The Swiss Re Foundation welcomes social enterprises that fall within the outlined scope and that meet the below  criteria:

  • Mission and purpose: Applicants should be able to show significant societal benefit and, ideally, quantify it with accuracy (e.g., better health indicators, lower out-of-pocket expenses).
  • Target group: The customer base of applicants must include at least 30% of low-income individuals. Candidates ought to be well knowledgeable about the unique situations that both men and women they serve face. Businesses that are gender-inclusive, that is, that work to lessen gender inequality, will be given priority.
  • Geographically: Applicants must conduct business in nations that the World Bank classifies as lower-middle-income or low-income.
  • Model of operation: Candidates must operate on a market basis. The business may depend on grant funding, however, it must demonstrate an ability to grow and scale through earned revenue.
  • The business ventures should be established latest in 2021, and serves a minimum of 20,000 people. It just also have the potential to reach a minimum hundred (100,000) people in the next 2 years.
  • A strong management team is required with responsibilities well-defined. The venture must also have a well-structured workforce. Special preference will be given to ventures with a minimum of one female founder, or at least 30% women in the management team.
