Star Wars Spinoff The Acolyte
The next live-action Star Wars series is set to come in the next year. And while it does not have a specific premiere date as of yet, at the Star Wars Celebration event that recently took place in London, Lucasfilm confirmed that The Acolyte will be premiered on Disney Plus in 2024.
The Acolyte Storyline, Cast, and Everything You Need To Know
The Acolyte as you should know is a show that is focused on the dark side of the Force, with a cast reportedly led by Amandla Stenberg. The series also features a handful of other big names in the industry such as The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss and Squid Game’s Lee Jung-Jae. The rest of the cast on the other hand includes Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, and Dean-Charles Chapman. Leslye Headland, which is the co-creator of Netflix’s Russian Doll, is also serving as showrunner, director, as well as executive producer. The series was initially announced back in 2020.
“What I pitched to [Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy] was Frozen meets Kill Bill,” Headland during Celebration stated on stage, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. “This is when the bad guys are outnumbered. They are the underdogs.”
The Acolyte Will Be Joining a Long List of Other Live-Action Star Wars Series
When the series gets to premiere, The Acolyte will join a fast-growing list of live-action Star Wars series available on Disney Plus, and this is including The Mandalorian, Andor, and The Book of Boba Fett.
