New ‘Planet of the Apes’ Cast and Title Revealed
It’s been quite a while now, five years to be precise since the release of War for the Planet of the Apes. And now on Thursday, 20th-century Studios announced the next title in the franchise and it will be Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
20th Century Studios Made the Announcement on Twitter
“A new saga begins,” the studio shared on Twitter. “‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,’ picking up many years after ‘War for the Planet of the Apes,’ starts production next month and stars Owen Teague, Freya Allen, and Peter Macon. Directed by Wes Ball, ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ arrives in 2024.”
Planet of the Apes Franchise Has Generated Over $1.7 Billion Globally Since the First Release
The planet of the Apes franchise which is based on the 1963 novel la Planete des singes by Pierre Boulle, has generated over $1.7 billion globally ever since the release of the very first film back in 1968.
“‘Planet of the Apes’ is one of the most iconic and storied science fiction franchises in film history,” president of 20th Century Studios Steve Asbell in a news release said. “With ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ we are privileged to continue the series’ tradition of imaginative, thought-provoking cinema.”
