Education is at the heart of the United Nations SDGs and is considered a fundamental right for every child. However, in Africa, the education sector faces numerous challenges, including inadequate resources, low teacher motivation, and poor teacher training, among others. To address this challenge, His Highness Muhammad Sanusi II launched the SDG Challenge (Cohort 3) 2023 for Sub-Saharan African Teachers.
Muhammad Sanusi II SDG Challenge (Cohort 3)
The SDG Challenge Cohort is an initiative launched by His Highness Muhammad Sanusi II in partnership with the Global Schools Alliance and Teach For All. The initiative seeks to promote quality education in Africa by empowering teachers with the skills and knowledge to teach the SDGs effectively.
The SDG Challenge is a year-long program that will provide training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to selected teachers from across Africa.
The Objectives of Muhammad Sanusi II SDG Challenge (Cohort 3)
The SDG Challenge (Cohort 3) 2023 has the following objectives:
- To train teachers on the SDGs and equip them with the necessary skills to teach the SDGs effectively.
- To promote collaboration and networking among teachers from different countries in Africa.
- To promote innovative teaching practices that can improve learning outcomes and student engagement.
- To foster a culture of continuous learning among African teachers.
How to Apply for the Muhammad Sanusi II SDG Challenge (Cohort 3)
Teachers who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for the SDG Challenge by following these steps:
- Visit the SDG Challenge website and fill out the application form.
- The selection process will be highly competitive, and only a limited number of teachers will be selected for the program.
- Shortlisted Candidates will be notified on how to proceed to the next phase of the application
Eligibility Criteria for the Muhammad Sanusi II SDG Challenge (Cohort 3)
To be eligible for the SDG Challenge, a teacher must meet the following criteria:
- Be a practicing teacher in any Sub-Saharan African nation
- Be proficient in English.
- Be committed to teaching the SDGs and promoting quality education in Africa.
- Good and steady internet and a computer.
The Benefits of the SDG Challenge
The SDG Challenge offers numerous benefits to African teachers. Some of these benefits include:
- Funding: A financial reward to participants of up to $2,000 USD to enable their innovative educational projects. After the closing stage of the Program, Participants will also have the opportunity to pitch their project for a chance to win up to $10,000 USD
- Training and Mentorship: The program will provide teachers with training and mentorship on the SDGs and effective teaching methods. This will help teachers to improve their teaching skills and enhance learning outcomes for their students.
- Networking: The program will provide teachers with opportunities to collaborate and network with other teachers from different countries in Africa. This will help to foster a culture of knowledge-sharing and peer learning among African teachers.
- Exposure: The program will expose teachers to innovative teaching practices and new ideas that can improve their teaching and learning outcomes.
- Professional Development: The program will promote continuous learning among African teachers and help them to develop professionally.
