The website building company will be joining a list of other website builder services that now offer Tap to Pay on iPhone technology. Now available to US-based users to start with, GoDaddy has now partnered with Apples Tap to Pay on iPhone to offer this free from its main mobile app. The company states that the release of this additional service is to help simplify seamless tap payments for small businesses without the need to buy an additional form of POS system.

The Apple Tap to Pay service was first revealed back in February 2022 with the aim of taking out the use of external POS hardware. GoDaddy will now join the likes of Wix and Stripe which just announced Tap to Pay abilities.

How the New Service Works

And by downloading the GoDaddy mobile app on an iPhone that’s compatible, businesses will have the necessary tools to accept all types of contactless payments, from contactless credit and debit cards to Apple Pay and many other digital wallets.

“Based on our data, more than half of all in-store purchases are now contactless, making it a favorite way for consumers to make payments in-store,” President of GoDaddy Commerce, Osama Bedier said.

“Many of our US customers already have an iPhone. By adding Tap to Pay on iPhone to the GoDaddy Mobile App, we will enable millions of small businesses to accept in-person payments without having to purchase additional hardware. That matters in this climate. It’s part of GoDaddy’s mission to put merchants first by making user-friendly, connected commerce tools accessible to all businesses, no matter their size.”

What the Company Has To Say about the Security of the Service

GoDaddy in a company blog post claims that Apple does not store the number of cards on the device or even on Apple servers, and GoDaddy implements advanced encryption designed to safeguard the data of users.

Transactions made through the GoDaddy Mobile App are powered by GoDaddy Payments, which as you should know comes with transaction fees of 2.3% + 0 cents per in-person transaction.

When Will the Service Expand Outside Of the US

GoDaddy at the moment is yet to comment on expanding the offering to users that are outside of the US.
