AWHF #MyAfricanHeritage Competition 2024

The African World Heritage Fund is inviting Africans to join in the festivities of Africa World Heritage Day, which has the theme “My African Heritage.” As part of the Africa Month celebrations, they are encouraging everyone to participate and have a chance to win a weekend trip to a captivating African World Heritage site.

AWHF #MyAfricanHeritage Competition 2024

The #MyAfricanHeritage Competition will begin on African World Heritage Day (5 May) and conclude on Africa Day (25 May). This competition’s objective is to promote awareness and admiration for the importance of World Heritage in Africa, as well as the preservation of African heritage values, richness, and diversity. It is open to all Africans residing in Africa or abroad.

Benefit

The prize for the competition includes a weekend excursion to a World Heritage Site, covering a round-trip flight ticket (in economy class), accommodation, and meals for a duration of two nights.

Eligibility Criteria

• Participants are allowed to engage on various social media platforms.
• The accompanying caption should detail the personal significance of the heritage shown in the photo or video and express the participant’s interpretation of African heritage.
• Submissions must be in one of the African Union’s official languages (English, French, Arabic, or Portuguese).
• Photos and videos must be of high resolution and the video should not exceed 4 minutes.
• Posts must be posted in public mode between 5 May and 25 May.
• The number of posts is unlimited.
• PplParticipants must own all content shared.
• The AWHF is not liable for any intellectual property concerns that may arise.

Evaluation Criteria

The posts will be evaluated by an impartial jury based on the following criteria:

• The posts’ relevance, in terms of the message being conveyed, to the theme of “My African Heritage.”
• The level of engagement generated by the posts, including metrics such as likes, shares, and reactions.

Application Process

• In order to enter the competition, participants need to create a brief video and/or photo that reflects their personal interpretation of the significance of “My African Heritage.”
• All posts must include the hashtag #MyAfricanHeritage and mention or tag at least one of the following social media handles:
