The call for applications are now open for the ELISA Scholars 2024 Training, scheduled to take place in HWANGE, Zimbabwe from November 12th to 14th, 2024. The training brings together, a group of high-potential founders of businesses with an emphasis on Africa as well as entrepreneurs or executives with audacious company concepts, for a three-day business experience.
In Africa, one of the programmes that promotes cross-sector cooperation is the Entrepreneurial & Leadership Initiative for Sustainability in Africa, commonly referred to as (ELISA). ELISA are a network of leaders and business owners from many industries who are transforming Africa via employment.
ELISA Scholars
Elisabeth Pasalk Valerio started ELISA as a side project. Her goal was to bring together leaders and business owners in Africa, support their mutual learning and growth as innovators, and help them turn their ideas into programmes that would be both feasible and long-lasting.
ELISA Scholars receive training in developing an investor presentation, an elevator pitch, and managing firm finances. To guarantee continuous improvement and execution of a business plan, ELISA Scholars continue to meet online with their coaches once a month for a year following the training session. They use the ELISA online portal to remain in contact.
For the duration of the one-year ELISA Scholars programme, a business leader is appointed to mentor each scholar. Scholars attend an intensive training session with their coaches, where they receive guidance from business professionals and industry leaders on how to progress their ideas, improve their company plan, and generate employment.

Eligiblity Requirements
- The Entrepreneurial & Leadership Initiative for Sustainability in Africa (ELISA), welcomes applicants of any age, sector or gender from anywhere in the world.
- The Applicant’s proposed business, project or idea must be focused on Africa or operate in the continent.

- Tap on the Apply button with a pointed arrow on it
- Complete the form. Please note that all submissions MUST be in English or French and participants must be able to read and write in English and/or French proficiently.
- Upon Successful application, applicants will be required to submit a video of themselves via WhatsApp for introductory purposes.
Selection of ELISA Scholars
- A committee of representatives chosen by the ELISA Advisory Council selects the scholars for each cohort.
- A rubric with preset criteria is used to assign scores to applicants.
- The selection of Scholars is based on the final scores.
- Before scholarships are awarded, a meeting with the top scorers is scheduled. Forty-five days following the application deadline, applicants receive notification.

- 2nd August 2024: The announcement of the 2024 ELISA Scholar cohort
