The African Institutes for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) have jointly introduced the AIMS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme 2023.

AIMS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme

This initiative is geared towards connecting early career researchers from African countries with their counterparts at German universities, with the aim of stimulating cross-border scientific cooperation.

AIMS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme 2023

The primary objective of the AIMS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme is to cultivate a deeper sense of camaraderie within the mathematical research communities of both Africa and Germany.

The program endeavors to not only foster mutual understanding but also encourage the identification of shared research interests and the initiation of collaborative projects.

The Role of AIMS

AIMS operates as a network of centers of excellence, dedicated to providing post-graduate training, conducting research, and engaging the public in the realm of mathematical sciences. This institution serves as a beacon, guiding Africa’s brightest minds toward becoming innovators capable of driving scientific, educational, and economic self-sufficiency.

With a mission to enable independent thinking and problem-solving, AIMS seeks to transform Africa through groundbreaking discoveries and technical advancements.

Benefits of the AIMS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme

Through the AIMS-DFG Fellowship Programme, researchers within the German research system can apply for funding to support their cooperation visits. There are two distinct modules available:

Researchers from the German research system have the opportunity to undertake visits of up to three months to one of the five AIMS centers
