A legacy that’s been running for over six decades, this intensive two-week summer seminar has become the cornerstone of academic enrichment,  offering a unique blend of insights into the workings of the United Nations.

What to Expect at GSP 2024

The 2024 Graduate Study Program (GSP) is scheduled to hold from 1 to 12 July 2024, and revolves around the theme “Summit of the Future: Challenges and Opportunities.” Participants can anticipate a robust program featuring morning lectures by distinguished representatives from the United Nations, international organizations, civil sectors, and diplomats.

The afternoons will be dedicated to visits to institutions and collaborative work on group projects. Student-led research and Presentations, which emphasize student empowerment, are one of the distinctive aspects of the GSP.

Participants (students) will be divided into five working groups, to explore the five chapters of the Pact for the Future. The outcome of this exploration will be presented in short papers and presentations at the program’s conclusion.

The GSP demands a significant commitment, with an average time requirement of 8-10 hours per day over ten days. This intensive schedule helps to maximize the potential of each Participant.

Participating in the GSP is free of charge. But, it’s essential to note that participants are responsible for covering their expenses. This includes visa, travel, and accommodation in Geneva. The United Nations Office in Geneva, unfortunately, cannot provide scholarships or sponsorships.

Requirements for Graduate Study Program (GSP) 2024

To be eligible for the Graduate Study Program (GSP) 2024;

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled graduate students between the ages of 22 and 32.
  • They should not be employed full time and;
  • Applicants must be fluent in English (both written and spoken)
  • The application process opens on 11 December 2023 and closes on 1 March 2024. Candidates must submit a complete application before the deadline for consideration.

Selection Process

The Selection Committee evaluates applicants based on;

  • Academic qualifications
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Professional experience
  • language proficiency, and
  • Motivation
  • The committee also ensures an equitable selection process by striving for fair gender and regional representation.
  • All candidates will be informed of the selection results on 1 April 2024. Applicants need to refrain from inquiring about their application status until the designated date.
