Key Responsibilities of UNICEF 2024 National Youth Volunteer Program

The responsibility are:

  • Represent UNICEF USA by speaking at local and national events to amplify youth voices.
  • Create social media content for UUSA’s channels.
  • Provide feedback on engaging young people in social justice work.
  • Collaborate with staff and UUSA leadership on strategic initiatives.
  • Lead projects to educate youth, volunteers, and staff on important topics.

  • Build relationships with other Council Members, Youth Representatives, and UNICEF Clubs.
  • Support the management of the Slack community and host digital conversations with students.

Commitment of UNICEF 2024 

Applicants must be willing to:

  • Serve a one-year term from August 1, 2024, to May 30, 2025. Those interested in serving more than one term can re-apply on unicefusa.org.
  • Dedicate 3-5 hours per week to council-related projects, meetings, trainings, and activities.
  • Lead youth engagement initiatives and work well in organized and motivated teams.
  • Attend weekly meetings on Tuesdays, 7:30-8:30 PM EST.
  • Participate in both in-person and virtual gatherings/trainings with the entire council. UNICEF USA covers travel and lodging costs for in-person activities.
  • Attend the following training sessions:
  • Summer Training: August 7 (7:30-8:30 PM EST), August 17 (12-4 PM EST), August 18 (12-4 PM EST), August 27 (7:30-8:30 PM EST).
  • Fall Training: October 23-27.

Eligibility Criteria 

Here are the eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants must be aged 14-24 and reside in the US during their term. (Students studying abroad are not eligible)
  • Interest in community organizing, advocacy, and youth-led action.
  • Interest in developing skills in public speaking, advocacy, and organizing.
  • Able to meet time commitments and expectations, and be reliable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Members must have reliable internet access and a device for virtual meetings.
