The New Desktop App from Poe Allows You Access All the AI Chatbots in One Place

The new desktop app from Poe allows you to access all the AI chatbots in one place. The goal of Poe is to be the web browser for accessing and using AI chatbots, and right about now, the app just got a whole lot of updates.

Poe, which as you should know is the AI chatbot platform that is created by Quora, has just added a slew of updates, and this is including a Mac app, the ability to have several simultaneous conversations with the very same AI bot, access to Llama 2 model from Meta, and many more. The tool is also planning an enterprise tier so that companies can easily manage the platform for their employees, as per an email that was just recently sent to users of Poe.

As David Pierce wrote back in April, the ambition of Poe is to be the web browser for AI chatbots. The CEO of Poe’s parent company Quora, Adam D’Angelo, also sits on the board of OpenAI and reportedly thinks that the number of AI bots will keep spiking. Poe however wants to be the one place where you can get to access and find them all.

CEO of Quora’s Take on the New Development

“I think there’s going to be this massive ecosystem similar to what the web is today,” D’Angelo recently stated. “I could imagine a world in which most companies have a bot that they provide to the public.” Poe allows you to pay one subscription for unlimited access to all of the bots that are on its platform for $19.99 per month or $200 per year.

How the New Mac App Compares To the Web and Mobile Apps of Poe

The new Mac app in question works very similarly to the web and mobile apps of Poe, which allows you to chat with bots such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4 alongside Anthropic’s Claude. And per the email that went out just recently over the weekend announcing new product updates, there are three new bots that offer users access to the (almost) open-source LLama 2 model of Meta.

Other Features of Poe

Additionally, Poe now allows you to carry out multiple conversations with the very same bot, search for bots via its explore page, and make use of the platform in Japanese. Poe is also a bot creation platform with its very own API in case you don’t know, and now it will enable developers to adjust the “temperature” of prompts. “Higher temperature values create more varied but less predictable replies and lower values create more consistent responses,” as per the company.

Poe’s Enterprise Plan

Poe however has yet to share details on its planned enterprise plan, but you can easily and effectively get on the waitlist via this Google form.
