The Al Qasimi Foundation Faculty Research Grant 2024 (Up To 35,000 AED)

The Faculty Research Grants offered by the Al Qasimi Foundation are available to current faculty members at accredited higher education institutions worldwide. These grants aim to support faculty members engaged in field research in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah during the summer or a sabbatical period for a maximum duration of two (2) months.

Grant Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility requirements for applicants seeking the Faculty Research Grants are as follows:

  • Applicants must be current faculty members at a recognized tertiary institution and hold a doctorate or another terminal degree.
  • If English is a secondary language, applicants must have a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 90 or an IELTS score of 6.5.
  • The proposed research must primarily focus on the United Arab Emirates, particularly the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. If other locations are included in the research proposal, Ras Al Khaimah must be significantly emphasized for data gathering and analysis.
  • The proposed research must address an educational, public policy, or closely related social science issue or question. Relevant topics may include education, urban planning/development, public health, economic development, food access, and energy or environmental policy, depending on the research question.
  • The proposed research must have received Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval at the applicant’s home institution.

Grant Selection Criteria

  • Grants are granted based on the quality of academic accomplishments and the relevance of the research proposal. Factors such as demonstrated academic excellence and integrity, track record of scholarly research and publications, and the reputation of both the applicant’s current institution and those where they obtained their degrees are taken into consideration during the assessment process. Additionally, the applicant’s academic discipline is also a factor, and preference is given to those specializing in education, public policy, or closely related fields.

  • Potential applicants are advised to create an account in the Foundation’s grant management portal and then follow the instructions for the Faculty Research Grant application when submissions become available. All required documents, as well as the online application form, must be uploaded and submitted in the grant management portal by March 1, 2024, to be eligible for consideration:

  • A cover letter introducing the reason for interest in this funding opportunity, a concise summary of the proposed project and the applicant’s qualifications, and how the proposal aligns with the Al Qasimi Foundation’s objectives and mission.
  • Academic curriculum vitae or resume
  • Research proposal (inclusive of literature review, methodology, timeline, and potential field research dates in Ras Al Khaimah)
  • Completed Faculty Research Grant Budget Template  detailing specific expenses and the total grant request (not to exceed 35,000 AED)
  • University department or institutional letter of support on behalf of the applicant
  • Letter of recommendation from a colleague, indicating the duration, extent, and nature of the recommending party’s relationship with the applicant.
  • Official proof of IRB approval for the proposed research from the applicant’s home institution (or plans for obtaining if not available at the time of application)
  • Official scores from the TOEFL or IELTS exams, if required
