The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program aims to empower young individuals from Africa and Indigenous communities in Canada to become catalysts for positive change in their communities and beyond.
Scholars participate in a comprehensive program involving workshops, courses, and fieldwork, in addition to their degree studies. The Mastercard Foundation collaborates with visionary organizations to provide access to meaningful employment for these young talents.

Eligibility and Admission Criteria
On-Campus Master’s Scholarships:
- Open to citizens of African countries, citizens of Lebanon, and refugees living in Lebanon or on the African Continent.
PhD Scholarships:
- Open to citizens of African countries and refugees living on the African Continent.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria for Scholarship Students
- Good academic standing in the previous degree.
- Demonstrated talent that exceeds financial resources.
- Commitment to community, country, and regional development.
- Leadership skills.
- Commitment to attending all additional learning experiences and workshops required by the Scholars Program.
- Age limit: 35 years or younger.
- Demonstration of Readiness for University Studies in English (RUSE) by April 21, 2024.
Accepted Tests for RUSE:
- AUB-EN test
- TOEFL IBT
- IELTS (Academic)
- GRE (Verbal)
- GMAT (Verbal)
- DUOLINGO English Test (DET)
Application Process
Step 1: You need to complete the AUB online graduate application and upload supporting documents by March 14, 2024.
Step 2: Select Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program under the scholarship section of the online graduate application and tick the corresponding APPLY checkbox. Save changes to submit.
Step 3: Complete the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Survey by March 14, 2024.
Step 4: Fill out the AUB Financial Aid application (deadline to be communicated separately).
Important Note
For an application to be considered complete, applicants must have completed the AUB online graduate application, the Program survey, and the AUB Financial Aid Application.
