The game Starfield has already smashed the record that was set by Skyrim in regards to concurrent players on Steam.

Just less than two weeks after launching in early access, the sci-fi RPG from Bethesda reportedly hit an all-time peak of 330,723 concurrent players on September 10, as per SteamDB, thus surpassing the record of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim (via VGC).

Skyrim as you should know achieved 287,411 concurrent players on Steam 12 years ago and it is still played by a huge amount of players every week. Although Starfield has now managed to beat one of the most popular games of all time of Bethesda, it has yet to beat Fallout 4 on the other hand, which had the highest-ever peak in concurrent players on Steam from the company, at 472,962 during its release back in 2015.

The Actual Number of Concurrent Players of Starfield

And considering the fact that Starfield is also available on Xbox Series X|S as well as Xbox Game Pass, it is very much possible that the overall concurrent player count on all available platforms right about now is much bigger than what we are aware of.

Starfield Racked Up More Than Six Million Players

According to Bethesda on September 7, the game in question reportedly racked up more than six million players. “As of this morning, Starfield has already surpassed six million players, making it the biggest Bethesda game launch of all time,” the announcement stated. This in question then followed a successful launch when the game managed to surpass one million concurrent players across Xbox Series X|S, cloud streaming, as well as on PC.

Official Mod Support Will Be Implemented Into Starfield In The Coming Year.

Meanwhile, Todd Howard, the game’s director has now confirmed that official mod support will be implemented into Starfield in the coming year.

“When the mods are ready, you will be able to do almost anything as we have done in the past, and the mods will be supported next year, but we will do it in a big way because we love it too,” Howard stated.

Future Post-Launch DLC

He also made comments on future post-launch DLC, but is however on the other hand keeping quiet on the details for now, stating: “When it will be released is a secret.” Starfield may just be one of the best RPGs of the year if not the best if we are being honest unless something really good gets to pop up before the year runs out of course.
