Serif Unveils A Powerful New Affinity Photo 2 Creative Suite

Adobe rival, Serif has just unveiled a major upgrade to its affinity creative suite and in the process brought big changes o the best graphic design software and photo editor tools of the company.

The tool which is known as Affinity version 2 is after all a sequel, and the bundle features what serif sees as ‘reimagined versions’ of vector graphics illustrator Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo, and Affinity Publisher. And alongside the overhauled desktop tools the company also is bringing its well-known DTP software to the iPad.

What’s New in Affinity V2?

Each of the three creative apps has seen a big boost of new improvements and features. Affinity Designer 2 boasts non-destructive vector warps, shape-building, and knife tools, and a smart x-ray viewer for true hands-on creativity. DXF and AutoCAD files now can be easily imported into designer also.

Affinity Photo 2 as you should know introduces non-destructive RAW file processing – which will get the attention of Adobe Lightroom users and not to also mention users of Lightroom alternatives. It also offers enhanced masking tools features as well as JPEG XL support.

Affinity Publisher 2 features the ability for users to easily join multiple files together as separate chapters, footnotes for academics, and also auto-flow tools. And according to Serif, performance has also been greatly improved for those that are working on more complex projects.

Almost all of the Desktop Apps Features Are Making Their Way To The iPad Version

Almost all of the features found in the desktop apps are making their way to the iPad version, with only a couple of exceptions. The UI, though, as you should know has been specially designed for touch-based digital artistry. It has however led to the arrival of a radial control panel, which is a quick menu easily accessed with a three-finger swipe, as well as a compact mode for making the most out of the limited screen real estate.

What Serif Have To Say About the Development

Managing director of Serif, Ashley Hewson said: “We have worked tirelessly to not only include many of the new features our customers have been asking for, but a whole host of usability and workflow improvements to make the apps more productive than ever. We think Affinity users both old and new are going to love it.”

Affinity Version Tools Are Available As Standalone Apps Currently

Affinity Version tools are available at the moment as standalone apps for a one-off fee which is something that may come in handy for users on the lookout for a subscription-free adobe Photoshop alternative as well as alternatives to Adobe Illustrator. A recently launched universal license unlocks all three apps for windows, Mac, and iPad devices for the already discounted price.

Serif however admitted that there are no upgrade routes for existing users of Affinity as they will have to purchase version 2 just like everyone else.
