Job Summary

The Senior HR Administrator, who reports directly to the Senior HR Specialist, is a pivotal role within the hierarchy. This dynamic position involves various responsibilities such as maintaining employee records, utilizing and updating databases for decision-making and reporting purposes, overseeing recruitment processes, coordinating onboarding and offboarding procedures, managing performance, and providing support for learning and development initiatives.

In addition, part of the role involves addressing employee inquiries regarding benefits and other aspects of employee relations by the organization’s policies.

The overall objective of this role is to ensure the smooth functioning of HR operations and provide assistance to the HR department while adhering to the core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity across all aspects of the job.

Program / Practice / Department Overview

  • This position is located at the main office in Abuja, Nigeria and provides support for all of TechnoServe’s projects implemented locally in Nigeria.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Senior HR specialist to create, revise, and uphold the local Employee policy handbook while ensuring consistent communication and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Work alongside the Senior HR specialist to oversee the annual performance review process, offering support, training, and ensuring evaluations are conducted professionally and promptly.
  • Assist managers in the recruitment of new employees by providing contract templates, overseeing onboarding procedures, and conducting new hire orientations.
  • Regularly verify compliance with local labor laws and tax regulations.
  • Support in administering leave requests and managing leave schedules.
  • Contribute effectively to implementing all components of current local benefit plans.
  • Ensure the efficient utilization of HQ HRIS protocols, including accurate and timely data entry, and secure storage of personnel information as mandated by local laws.
  • Proactively and confidentially address and resolve employee relations issues.
  • Professionally execute procedures for employee departures.
  • Offer adaptive solutions to address evolving HR requirements in response to internal and external organizational changes.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Sociology, Business Management, or a related field with 2 years of experience, or 4 years of verified experience in a Human Resources role is required.
  • A strong command of MS Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, coupled with a solid familiarity with HRIS software platforms, is crucial.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with both management and employees are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in NGO or INGO donor-funded projects is advantageous.
  • Understanding of HR functions such as pay and benefits, recruitment, training, and development is essential.
  • Familiarity with labor laws and disciplinary procedures is necessary.
  • Competency in MS Office and Google Workspace is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important.
  • The ability to solve problems and make decisions is key.
  • Demonstrating strong ethics and reliability is crucial.
  • Possession of an HR certification would be beneficial.
