PlayStation Plus Upgrades This Summer – PlayStation Plus Premium

PlayStation Plus Upgrades This Summer, and trust me you don’t want to miss out. Recently, Sony has been working to come up with an Xbox Game Pass competitor for months, and today we would finally get to see what the company has been working on all this while.

PlayStation Plus Upgrades This Summer

Sony has revealed that The PlayStation Plus would be receiving an Upgrade in June 2022 that would introduce new subscription tiers with varying perks, that includes downloadable games and PlayStation Now Streaming. The name of the service is said to remain – and it would still go by the name PlayStation Plus, but this is clearly what Sony intends to use in response to Xbox game pass.

PlayStation Plus Upgrades This Summer As a Respond to Xbox Game Pass

If you are already aware that you do not want the extra stuff and you would rather just stick with the basic PlayStation Plus subscription, you can choose to do it if you want to. While Sony has decided to introduce subscription tiers, the lowest dubbed PlayStation Plus Essential would offer you everything a PlayStation Plus Subscription offers for the same price.

This means that you would be granted access to online multiplayer games that support them, a pair of downloadable games each month that would remain accessible as long as you choose to stay subscribed, discounts on games from the PlayStation Store, and cloud save game storage for just $9.99 a month and $59.99 a year.

PlayStation Plus Brings a Library of Modern and Classic Games

This overhaul of the PlayStation Plus is said to bring in two subscription tiers beyond PlayStation Plus Essential. The middle tier goes by the name PlayStation Plus Extra and it includes all of the benefits of the Essential tier includes a library of “up to 400” PS4 and PS5 games that you can choose to download and play as long as you remain a subscriber.

The PS4 and PS5 games would span the first PlayStation Studios games and third-party games, but aside from that, Sony did not get specific. The PlayStation Plus is expected to run $14.99 per month/$99.99 every year in the United States.

Then there is the PlayStation Plus Premium, which happens to be the most expensive tier so far. This would offer you everything from the extra and Essential tiers with an extra library of games that includes streamable PS3, PS1, PS2, and PSP games that are both streamable and downloadable.

Subscribing to this premium tier would not only allow you to stream the games that are included in the extra package, although it is worth you noting that this functionality will only work in locations where PlayStation Now is currently available. And when it comes to PlayStation Now, players can still choose to subscribe to PlayStation plus premium will be able to stream games to PS4, PS5, and PC. Finally, the tier is expected to include time-limited game trials, but those are all just small perks when compared to the rest.

PlayStation Plus Premium Cost

PlayStation Plus Premium is expected to cost a fair amount. It cost $17.99 per month/$119.99 per year. It is actually worth pointing out that the premium’s monthly cost is just a little bit more than the $14.99 Microsoft charges for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which bundles the Xbox Live Gold with the console and PC versions of Xbox Game Pass alongside the Xbox Game Streaming.
