A New Lord of the rings game has been revealed by Take Two, and this time, the game is offering a different time in Middle-earth. The Lord of the rings is still a major target for adaptations and at the moment, we have learned that a new middle-earth game is entering development with Take-Two interactive.
Being developed by Weta Workshop’s interactive game division, this announcement would times up very well with the Lord of the Rings: The rings of power next month, which Weta workshop also is involved in. That is being published right through Take-Two label private Division, best known for publishing the Outer Worlds, Hades, and OlliOlli World.

New Lord of The Rings Game Revealed by Take Two
Speaking on Private Division’s Official Website, Amie Wolken, who happens to be the head of interactive at Weta Workshop, teased this game is “one that is so different from what the fans have previously played.” However, beyond this and the middle-earth setting, details concerning the currently unnamed games are quite scarce.

Unsurprisingly, still being in early development means that there is no solid release date attached, just that its launch is expected “during Take-Two’s Fiscal Year 2024.” Historically, Take-Two happens to be a multiplatform publisher so based on the timeframe, we are expected to hit PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Not our only Adventure to Middle-earth
Wolken’s Statement has gotten me curious about what exactly this new middle-earth game actually could bring. While previous adaptations like the lord of the Rings: War in the North and Middle-earth: Shadow of War have become more Action-Oriented, we have seen some divergences also, making it a lot harder to predict just what the team’s planning.
From more comical experiences like LEGO: The Hobbit to MMORPG entry Lord of the Rings Online, there’s also the Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which is another upcoming adaptation that is set during the first few chapters of the fellowship of the Ring. Given to us by the publishers Nacon and Daedalic Entertainment instead, that is also promising to offer something entirely different.
With this gameplay split between Gollum and Smeagol, his former self, we would need to manage these two aspects of his character across a series of stealth and Platforming sections. Sadly, Gollum got delayed into late 2022, but it should not take too long before we get to experience it finally.
