The Jacobs Foundation is excited to announce the opening of applications for its Research Fellowship Program for 2024.
Program Overview
The Research Fellowship Program offered by the Jacobs Foundation aims to attract early and mid-career researchers from around the world who are dedicated to enhancing the learning and development of children and youth. The program welcomes applicants from various disciplines, including but not limited to education sciences, psychology, economics, sociology, behavioral science, computer science, pedagogy, linguistics, neurosciences, and science of learning.
Applicants who bring together different levels of analysis and engage in interdisciplinary research are particularly encouraged to apply. The program places a special emphasis on studies that explore and embrace the diversity of learning, promote the generation and application of evidence on human learning and development, or contribute to scaling up effective education policies and practices.
Goal of the Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowship Program 2024
The Jacobs Foundation has a special focus on the following inquiries:
- What are the factors that impact learning, development, and learning outcomes, considering variations in individuals and contextual elements?
- How can we create inclusive designs that accommodate different learning needs on a large scale, enabling all children to fulfill their potential as learners and in life?
- How can we develop interventions that mitigate the growing inequalities in children’s learning and bridge the gaps in the effects of digital technologies?
- How can we incorporate data to assist learners and teachers in making informed decisions regarding their learning and teaching?
- Which learning approaches, environments, and experiences at the school level have proven effective in enhancing learning outcomes in diverse student populations?
Funding
- The fellowship provides a monetary amount of CHF150,000.
- Alongside the financial support, the program offers numerous non-financial advantages to its fellows.
Eligibility Criteria
The preferred candidate for the fellowship:
- Has obtained a PhD or equivalent degree within the last decade.
- Holds a position at a university or research institute.
- Conducts outstanding research in a field relevant to the Jacobs Foundation’s interests.
- Demonstrates a willingness to actively participate in the Foundation’s activities and engage with the Fellowship Network.
Selection Criteria
The selection criteria listed below carry equal weight:
- Previous research achievements and record of publications.
- Demonstrated creativity and potential for leadership in the scientific community.
- Scientific rigor of methodologies and data.
- Global significance of the fellow’s proposed work.
- Potential for fostering human development and learning.
- Alignment of planned projects with the objectives of the Jacobs Foundation.
- Willingness to support the Foundation’s goals and actively collaborate with us.
