Google is set to introduce more ads to your Gmail account. I don’t think Gmail account holders will be happy with this move. And with that being said, here is one question for you. Could this be the worst thing to have happened to the Gmail platform?
Google Ads Gmail Account
Google is now set to be scaling up the ads that are being shown to Gmail users as per tens of online reports as well as social media posts.
While ads have played an important part in the Gmail interface for many years now thus helping to drive up revenue and keep the email service free ultimately, it has been so far very easy to differentiate ad content from legitimate emails on the platform.
Google now looks to be embedding ads in-between inboxes of users thus rendering them a whole lot more hard to recognize on the platform.
And as well as ads on the platform being crafted specifically to look very much like regular ads, many screenshots have uncovered much bigger, interactive ads that are filled with pictures as well as much other content.
A distinct lack of announcement in regard to the development has been very evident so far. Gmail’s Twitter account even revealed to one user that ads in the middle of an inbox do not sound good.
Roll Out Of the New Changes
The changes in question appear to be rolling out slowly to some users, with many others on the platform not yet seeing evidence of the new ad style. Those on the other hand who have been affected by the new development are reporting changes across all Gmail interfaces, and this is including the mobile app and web access.
Gmail users are opting to make use of a different client, such as the Mail app on Apple hardware, or Outlook. Doing this will make them remain unaffected by Gmail’s ads completely.
Google however did not respond to TechRadar Pro’s request to verify changes to its ad layout immediately.
Google Ads Transparency Center
The company in the early parts of this year made other changes to the way ads work on its platform, although this time affecting transparency in the process. Google claims that 30 million users interact with its ad transparency menu daily launched a new Ads Transparency Center that let users check things such as ads that have been run by a company previously, the regions that received those very ads, and many other histories including previous runs of that very same ad.
How to Stop Ads on Your Gmail Account
The way to stop the new ads system from Google on your Gmail account is to stop using the platform completely. But there is however another means of doing this. Another way of getting rid of ads on your Gmail account is by turning off the feature completely. And you can do this simply by going to the gear-shaped icon that is located in the top right corner of your Gmail avatar or photo. After that, you will have to select the configuration box and then disable the promotions option.
