Applications currently are now open for the HGHI Burke Global Health Fellowship Program 2024-2025! This esteemed one-year fellowship program is designed to empower Harvard junior faculty members from various disciplines across the University to advance innovative research, curriculum development, and teaching in global health.
Since its inception in 2009, the HGHI Burke Global Health Fellowship has served as a springboard for over 50 junior faculty members, catalyzing their careers and fostering impactful contributions to the field of global health.
The fellowship offers two categories of awards
- Research Award: Provides funding for junior faculty to undertake foundational research or exploratory work on groundbreaking questions in global health.
- Curriculum Development and Teaching Award: Supports junior faculty in applying innovative pedagogy to course development and teaching, particularly at the undergraduate level.
Funding details
- Research Award: Up to $75,000
- Curriculum Development and Teaching Award: Up to $25,000
- Additionally, recipients will receive funding for professional development, including support for publishing in an open-access journal and attending research conferences or networking events.
Eligibility
- Candidates must hold a junior faculty appointment at Harvard University.
- Proposals from diverse fields and perspectives are welcome, including disciplines outside of health and life sciences as long as the work aligns with global health.
Fellow expectations
- Active participation in relevant Harvard Global Health Institute events.
- Submission of a one-year progress report and a final reflection paper.
- Presentation of research findings to the global health community.
- Contribution as an annual speaker for the HGHI Pathways to Global Health seminar series.
- Service as a reviewer for future fellowship applicants.
- Acknowledgment of HGHI Burke funding in all communications and materials related to the award.
