Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize 2025 ($2.5 Million in funding)

Established in 1996, as a way of recognizing Conrad N. Hilton’s extensive philanthropic work across the globe, the yearly Hilton Humanitarian Prize is awarded to a nonprofit organization that has made remarkable contributions to mitigating human suffering.

The prize is bestowed upon nonprofit organizations rather than individuals, serving as a reminder of the pressing need for humanitarian aid worldwide and showcasing the impactful solutions provided by these organizations for affected communities around the world.

  • The recipient of the prize is granted funding of $2.5 million.

Nominee Eligibility

  • Only organizations, not individuals, are eligible for the Prize.
  • To be considered, nominees must be an established charitable organizations that are publicly supported and are non-governmental. Their eligibility will be determined based on whether they have obtained tax-exempt status from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service or the equivalent for international organizations. The Foundation will contact international nominees for required documentation.
  • Nominees must have a minimum of five years of legal establishment.
  • Nominees must have their own audited financial statements for five consecutive years.
  • Nominees must have had expenses exceeding $750,000 in their most recent audited fiscal year.
  • Any local office or member organization of a Prize Laureate or a Hilton Humanitarian Prize Laureate is not eligible.
  • Nominees that are affiliated with parent organizations or sponsored by organizations, as well as specific programs within organizations or university-based projects, are ineligible.
  • Academic institutions that confer educational degrees cannot be considered; however, they can be affiliated with academic institutions if they have independent tax-exempt status, produce audited financial statements, and fulfill other eligibility criteria.

Nominator Requirements and Guidelines

  • The individual making the nomination must have direct knowledge of the organization being nominated.
  • The nominator must not hold a position as an officer, or employee, or receive any form of compensation from the nominated organization. However, board members can make nominations if they do not receive payment for their board service.
  • The nominator must not be a family member of an officer or employee of the organization being nominated.
  • The nominator must not be the founder of the nominated organization.
  • The nominator must not be an employee of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, a board member, a Prize Juror, or a family member of any Foundation employee, board member, or Prize Juror.
  • The nominator must not be a member of the Hilton family.

Evaluation Criteria

  • The individual making the nomination must have direct knowledge of the organization being nominated.

  • The nominator must not be a member of the Hilton family.

How to Apply

  • The nominator must submit a signed nomination letter in English to the nominations portal .
  • The letter should:
  • Be no longer than four pages in 12-point font.
  • Focus on the organization’s achievements rather than future objectives. Both past and recent performance should be addressed.
  • Highlight the points outlined under evaluation considerations.
  • In a single nomination cycle, a nominator may only nominate one organization. If multiple nominations are received for a single organization, the first received will be the main nomination unless directed otherwise by the nominee. Other nominations will be added as letters of support, but no more than four such letters will be recorded.
