The focus for the 2023-2024 ConDev Student Media Grant Program is centered around exploring how tourism and hospitality can play a crucial role in supporting families and communities to navigate, thrive, or recover from conflict situations.
The reason behind selecting this theme for the 2023-2024 ConDev Student Media Grant Program is twofold: firstly, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the installation of a collection of Howard G. Buffett’s photography at Texas A&M University, and secondly, to celebrate the inauguration of the Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism within Texas A&M’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. As part of the festivities surrounding the installation of the Buffett photography, the winners of the 2023-24 photojournalism grants will be invited to Texas A&M to showcase their completed work.
Each recipient of the grant is expected to dedicate a minimum of two months in 2024 to immerse themselves in and document an issue that reflects the obstacles faced by fragile and conflict-affected nations through the perspective of tourism and/or hospitality. This documentation should include a combination of photography, written accounts, or verbal commentary.

- Participants chosen for the program will be granted a maximum of $5,000 to cover their travel expenses to any desired location, whether it is within their own country or abroad. However, it is essential that they obtain official approval from their university and any other pertinent organizations before embarking on their chosen journey.

- Budget and Travel Plans
- Submits a budget that is well-organized and adheres to the $ 5,000 limit
- Enhances project potential through the possibility of external funding (although not obligatory, it is encouraged)
