An X outage reportedly broke all outgoing links on the platform again. With the reported outage, clicking on links on the social media platform showed only an error message and not the page that you intended to visit in the first place.
X Outage Broke All Outgoing Links
As if publishers, as well as users, did not have enough reasons to reconsider their connections to the social media platform that is formerly known as Twitter, all outgoing links from X reportedly stopped working on Wednesday afternoon. An issue with the URL redirect that captures activity before sending users on their way in question sent people to a simple error page stating, “This page is down. I scream. You scream. We all scream… for us to fix this page. We’ll stop making jokes and get things up and running soon.”
The Issue Has Been Resolved
After about an hour or so of that very issue happening, the problem was reportedly fixed, although we really haven’t seen any public acknowledgment of the problem from the @Support account, CEO Linda Yaccarino, or even X owner / CTO Elon Musk.
Similar Issues on the Social Media Platform in The Past
If this issue sounds familiar, then it is simply because something very much similar happened back in March, thus taking down links and images across timelines for around an hour. Twitter at the time blamed that on an “internal change that had some unintended consequences” just before Platformer reported that the bug occurred simply due to a mistake by the single remaining site reliability engineer of the site, who at the time was operating solo just after Musk reportedly instituted massive layoffs.
