Amazon CEO says the company is going fully on generative AI. The CEO says that every single team of the company is now working on generative AI and also used the earnings call on Thursday to underscore just how much and important it is to the company in investing in artificial intelligence.
Amazon Fully On Generative AI
“Every single one” of Amazon’s businesses has “multiple generative AI initiatives going right now,” Andy Jassy, Amazon CEO on the company’s Q2 2023 earnings call on Thursday stated. The company offers infrastructure as well as services via AWS that can help to power many generative artificial intelligence applications, which Jassy in question did discuss on the call, but he however also stressed just how important AI is across the firm as a whole.

“They range from things that help us be more cost-effective and streamlined in how we run operations and various businesses, to the absolute heart of every customer experience in which we offer. It is going to be at the heart of what we do. It’s a significant investment and focus for us.”
When the New Changes Will Kick Off
We could get to see something from these initiatives very soon. I however would not be surprised if it is that Amazon announced some generative AI-based improvements for Alexa at its upcoming devices event stipulated to take place on September 20th. (Perhaps those ones in question will be powered by the much improved large language model (LLM) that it is working on for Alexa, which is something that Jassy discussed in the earnings call during the month of April.) And job listings from the early parts of this year showed that Amazon was hiring to help improve the Search of Amazon with an “interactive conversational experience.”
Other Big Tech Firms Going Big On Generative AI
Jassy however was not the only CEO to hype up AI this earnings season.
