Apple is planning to transform the iPhone with generative AI. And if anything about this new development is true, it simply means that just maybe SiriGPT may be upon us.
Apple Is Planning to Transform the iPhone with Generative AI
Apple as well as many big tech companies has been paying close attention to the rise of ChatGPT, Google Bard and many other similar tools as the company so far in this month alone has posted 28 job opportunities in the field of AI. That move alone gives us a clear message and indication that the company is ready to invest in this very technology.
And as seen by 9to5Mac, one of the listings in question is for a Visual Generative Modeling Research Engineer. The role listed will be part of “a group that will shape the way generative AI technologies transform Apple’s mobile computing platforms”, the description states.
That sounds fairly quite ambitious to us. It is however not clear as to exactly just what these roles mean for users, but the number of roles that are now open and available and the language that is used in their descriptions would point to Apple taking generative AI very seriously.
Apple and Artificial Intelligence
There are already tons of artificial intelligence integrated and embedded into Apple products already as you should know, whether is finding photos of your pet or even recognizing Siri voice commands, but this in question seems very much likely to be on a whole new level in regards to what it is capable of.
New reports however suggest that Apple knows that it is falling behind the likes of OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft in the AI space.
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple is currently on record stating that recent advances in generative AI are “very interesting” but however has also stated that Apple is going to be “deliberate and thoughtful” in its own approach to the technology.
The New Job Listing Posted By Apple
You can at the moment search for AI-related jobs at Apple yourself, and then you can see that they cover a whole host of different teams as well as job titles. And just as you would expect, you will need a lot of talent, experience, and passion in order to meet the requirements for one of these posts in question.
The language as you should know is different across the various listings, but we have already spotted references to ” the next generation of natural language understanding capability of Siri” s well as “the pivotal shift of AI technologies that is leading the revolution in human-computer interaction”.
That is the type of language that makes us think that Apple is taking generative AI very keenly. And whether or not Siri will morph into a ChatGPT-style bot remains to be seen for now, but it is however one of the possibilities that this latest batch of job listings point to.
Apple in the Race for AI
Apple already knows that if it doesn’t move fast on AI, someone else in the industry will. OpenAI just recently launched ChatGPT for iOS, while there are many other third-party tools that can bring top-tier artificial intelligence tools to your Apple products at this moment.
