The Africa Adaptation Initiative (AAI) is thrilled to announce the application call for its Young Professional Program on Climate Finance. The goal of this USAID-funded program, which is being held in Lome by Sustainable Solutions for Africa (SSA), is to introduce graduates, postgraduates, and young professionals in the early stages of their careers from all African nations to the crucial topic of climate financing.
The major objective of the Africa Adaptation Initiative (AAI), which was founded during COP 21 in Paris, is to address the pressing need for climate change adaptation in Africa. AAI, which was established in 2015 by African heads of state, serves as the main platform for climate change adaptation within the African Union.
AAI Young Professional Programme on Climate Finance – Overview
The Young Professional Programme on Climate Finance offers a rare opportunity for graduates, postgraduates, and young professionals just starting their careers from all over Africa, to get involved in the vital topic of climate finance.
Benefits of the Young Professional Programme on Climate Finance
- Participants will gain exposure to cutting-edge projects, and hands-on experience, and have the opportunity to support efforts to adapt to climate change throughout the African continent.
- Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Sustainable Solutions for Africa (SSA) team and serve as a Technical Partner for AAI.
- Participants are also allowed to connect with the AAI Adaptation Finance Academy, in other to gain the needed exposure to real-world climate finance projects.
- This connection and experience enable the young professionals to be equipped with the required skills and knowledge to make key contributions to climate adaptation in Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this Africa Adaptation Initiative (AAI) Young Professional Programme on Climate Finance 2024, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Prospective Candidates must be graduates/postgraduates, or early-career professionals from any African country.
- A background in climate finance, adaptation, or related fields, is mandatory for Candidates
- Possess strong analytical and communication skills.
- Be able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Be passionate about contributing to climate change solutions in Africa.
How to Apply
Candidates who meet the aforementioned requirements are invited to submit their applications by the deadline (March 1, 2024). Meanwhile, the applications should include the following documents:
- A Curriculum Vitae (CV) with details of education, work experience, and relevant skills.
- A 1-page cover letter showing the Candidate’s motivation and interest in the program
- Two letters of recommendation.
- Academic transcripts (if applicable).
