The 2024 Climate Creatives Challenge is now accepting applications for its global initiative, fostering innovation in climate communication. This includes a biannual international design competition, encouraging new and novel approaches to communicate the impacts of climate change and the benefits of mitigation, adaptation, and resilience.
The theme for Challenge #04 is “Coastal change,” posing the question, “How can we communicate the impacts of climate change on coastal zones and the benefits of adaptation and resilience?”
Eligibility
The challenge is open to individuals from all disciplines and creative backgrounds, including but not limited to:
- Designers
- Filmmakers
- Architects
- Programmers
- Engineers
- Musicians
- Writers
- Sculptors
- Illustrators
- Storytellers
- Scientists
- Marine Biologists
- Ecologists
- Data Visualizers
- Geographers
- Social Scientists
- Environmentalists
…essentially, anyone with a creative concept can contribute to addressing this theme. No professional status or team collaboration is required.
Aspects to Consider
Entrants are encouraged to:
- Explore unconventional ways of communicating the topic.
- Share ‘place ‘-based narratives linking to contextual stories and experiences.
- Connect with audiences not necessarily engaged with this topic.
- Showcase actions for adaptation and changing consequences, not just focusing on hazards.
Submission Formats
To accommodate various creative expressions, submissions can take diverse forms, including:
- Illustrations
- Photos
- Video
- Audio
- Poetry/Prose
- Sculpture
Prizes
Winning entries will receive the following prizes:
- 1st place: £1000
- 2nd place: £750
- 3rd place: £500
- 20 commendations of £250 each
Note: Prizes are in British Pound Sterling (GBP).
