Hurry and apply for the ADB Developing Asia Journalism Awards 2024. The Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), and The Rockefeller Foundation, are collaborating to bring back the Developing Asia Journalism Awards (DAJA), a program aimed at recognizing journalism that effectively covers global endeavours in sustainable development amidst growing climate challenges.
The Awards, initially introduced in 2004 by former ADBI Dean Peter McCawley, seek to drive awareness and accurate reporting in this critical area.
Journalists from the region are invited to apply and submit impactful stories addressing one of the following climate change themes:
- Food security
- Health preparedness and resilience
- Macrofinancial stability.
Benefits
- Authors of Up to four chosen article will be granted an invitation to attend an award ceremony in Tokyo scheduled for May, where they will be presented with a certificate and a cash prize of $1,000. In the case of collaborative articles, a single representative per piece will have the opportunity to join the Tokyo event.
- ADBI Dean Tetsushi Sonobe, the DAJA selection committee, and ADBI researchers will come together at the Tokyo ceremony to engage in discussions on the selected articles and pertinent regional matters.
Eligibility Criteria
- The journalist responsible for the article must be a citizen of an Asian Development Bank member country, or the primary author if there are multiple journalists involved in its production.
- DAJA only considers articles in English text format
- Articles must have been published in a regularly issued newspaper, magazine, or wire service. Or news website between 1 January 2023 and 29 February 2024 to be eligible for consideration.
