A Host of Disney Movies Reportedly Delayed

A host of Disney movies reportedly delayed and they include Marvel, Star Wars, and even the Avatar movies. But in other development, the next Deadpool movie will be hitting theaters a tad bit sooner than originally planned.

Disney Movies Delayed

Disney Movies Delayed

Disney is reportedly delaying many of its upcoming Marvel, Star Wars, and Avatar movies in part because of production delays that are caused by the Writers Guild of America strikeas per Deadline reports.

Let’s kick things off with Marvel. In the “near” term, Captain America: Brave New World has now moved from May 3rd, 2024, to July 26th, 2024, and Thunderbolts on the other hand has been delayed from that July slot to December 20th, 2024. (in the previous month, reports claimed that Thunderbolts was delaying filming due to the writer’s strike.) Blade, which is yet another Marvel film has now been pushed from September 6th, 2024, to February 14th, 2025, and Fantastic Four on the other hand is moving from that February date to May 2nd, 2025.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has also been pushed from that May date by an entire year to May 1st, 2026, while the follow-up to the movie, Avengers: Secret Wars, has also been pushed a year too to May 7th, 2027. One major movie that is however coming out sooner than planned: the still-untitled Deadpool threequel is moving up six months all the way to May 3rd, 2024.

Star Wars Movies Delay News

For Star Wars, on the other hand, 2026 is set to be quite of a banner year. An untitled film was reportedly pushed from December 2025 all the way down to May 22nd, 2026, while a second untitled Star Wars movie is now scheduled to be released on December 18th, 2026. Disney back in April announced that three new Star Wars movies are on the way, with one of them bringing back Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker. It is still very much unclear as to which of these movies is tied to which date.

Avatar Movies Delay Not Surprising

The famously slippery Avatar series in question is keeping up tradition, with the third Avatar film reportedly delayed a whole year to December 19th, 2025. And now we will be waiting even longer for the next two movies, which were both pushed out by whole three years and the fourth is now scheduled for December 21st, 2029, and the fifth in the franchise is set for December 19th, 2031.

If you want to see the entire complete lineup, the Hollywood Reporter has all of the changes and it includes a new reported date for the live-action Moana, which now has a date set for June 27th, 2025.

Why the Marvel MCU Delay Is Worse Than Actually Thought

The obvious reason as to why the Marvels were delayed according to YouTuber Grace Randolph, the movie in question tested poorly with audiences during screen tests. And just maybe the VFX were not done for the screen tests that was said to be held a couple of months ago so they cannot all be blamed here.
