Discord is set to launch an in-app soundboard. This very feature in question will allow users to play sounds in voice channels in order to add some fun to the whole thing or just to troll a friend.

Discord officially is introducing its very own in-app soundboard that you can utilize in voice channels. And with the soundboard, you will now be able to play all sorts of sounds in voice channels in a bid to have some fun or just troll a friend. The feature was an experiment prior to this and was available to a handful of communities, but with this new development, it will now be rolling out over “the coming weeks,” as per a Discord blog post.
There is a catch to this new development, however. You will only be able to actually make sounds with the soundboard of Discord on the desktop app. And if you are on mobile, you will hear the sounds but cannot get to use the board yourself, director of product communications Kellyn Slone, reveals to The Verge. That being said, any type of official Discord soundboard is still an improvement, as users prior to this have had to rely on third-party software such as Voicemod if they wanted to use a soundboard with the app.

Luckily, if you do not wish to hear sounds from Discord soundboards, you can tune their volume all the way down in settings, as per a Discord support document. And if you want to limit who can make use of a soundboard in your server, you are also able to set those permissions.
Discord Nitro Subscribers
Nitro subscribers on the other hand will get an added benefit with their soundboards as they will be able to use their uploaded sounds across various servers. And that is just one of a few new benefits that is coming to Nitro subscribers, and this is including additional themes and special decorations for your avatar on the platform. Nitro subs as you should know are also getting new “Super Reactions” you can utilize on the desktop app that adds some animated flair to an emoji reaction, and at the launch of the feature, all Discord desktop users will get two Super Reactions in order to test the feature.
