The Information has now reported that the video conferencing platform, zoom is working on an email service and tool and also a calendar application as it now looks to expand and establish itself as one of the top software giants.

The reported Zcal and Zmail services reportedly have been in the works for about two years now and with recent development could launch just within the next few weeks thus giving the company a potentially new huge customer opportunity.

Email by Zoom Would Be a Huge One for the Company

This move and development could put the company at the very same level as the likes of other big players in the industry such as Google and Microsoft which are currently acting as their closest rivals in the video calling industry. The company is set to host its Zoomtopia event in November, an event where the rumored services could be unveiled.

For zoom, launching a calendar application looks fairly like a straightforward move for the company which could also combine planning and scheduling services across all of its apps. In the matter of an email, it may prove to be a trickier proposition with the likes of outlook and Gmail dominating much of that market.

Zoom Was Tipped To Struggle As Workers Returned To Offices

During the pandemic after experiencing a huge spike in user activity, many experts in the field expected zoom to struggle as many workers returned to the office. The company however continued to do well in recent months in spite of increased competition from platforms such as Google meet and Microsoft teams.

The latest financial results of the company showed revenues of $1.1 billion for its second quarter of 2023 which is a rise of about 8% with a host of its customers paying over $100,000 for subscriptions rising 37% year after year.

Zoom Recently Overhauled Its Messaging App

Recently the company overhauled its messaging application in a bid to keep track with other platforms such as Microsoft teams and slack. That being said, the newly named Zoom Teams Chat will include features like in-meeting text chat for video calls, streamlined meeting setup, a new reminders feature, Progressive Web App Support, and better third-party app integration.
