Since 2009, WISE has recognized and promoted over 100 innovative solutions and individuals in the field of education. Over the past 15 years, many of these initiatives have expanded their impact, contributed to WISE’s work, and reached new regions.

World Innovation Summit For Education (WISE) Prize For Education 2024

WISE is now launching the next generation of the WISE Prize as a single initiative, selecting a group of finalists to participate in the competition. WISE will offer support in capacity building and mentorship to organizations addressing new educational challenges. This iteration of the WISE Prize will collaborate with the chosen finalists over a year to develop solutions for key education challenges in artificial intelligence, the teaching of the Arabic language, and foundational literacies.

This version of the WISE Prize will collaborate with the selected finalists for one year to create solutions targeting important education challenges.

  • Improving the teaching of the Arabic language

Benefits

  • The solution development will receive financial assistance ranging from $100,000 to USD 150,000.
  • Tailored mentorship will be available to drive the development of the solution.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate the significant positive influence they have had on individuals, communities, and society through their previous educational ventures with:
  • A strong record of demonstrated success
  • Minimum of 2 years in operation
  • Multiple sources of funding
  • A minimum requirement of having one committed team member, either full-time or equivalent, to lead the development of the solution.
  • A well-defined strategy outlining the specific educational problem that the project aims to tackle.
  • A solution that has the potential to scale up and be replicated in different settings and regions.
  • Organizations that are legally registered, such as colleges, universities, academic networks, schools, civil society groups, community organizations, governments, international agencies, private-sector companies, and non-profit entities, operating in the education sector are encouraged to submit their applications.
  • Representation from various educational sectors, including pre-primary, primary, secondary, tertiary, EdTech, vocational training, higher education, special needs education, informal learning, lifelong learning, and others, are welcome to apply.
  • Applicants should propose original projects or works and must be submitted by a representative working within the project.
  • All applicants are required to ensure that their organization, or they, are the originators of the project.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Qualifications: Applicants must have a proven track record demonstrating their capacity to address the challenge.
  • Innovation: Applicants must tackle the educational challenge using an evidence-based approach that has not previously been trialed or implemented.
  • Feasibility: Proposals should include a well-defined timeline for developing a Minimum Viable Product, accompanied by clear resource allocation and workforce planning.
  • Scalability: Proposed solutions need to exhibit potential for expansion and outline sustainable funding over time.
  • Contextualization: Proposed solutions should be adaptable to various geographic and social contexts.
