Powered by the De Beers Group, the WomEng Southern Africa Fellowship aims to cultivate leadership, innovation, well-being, and employability skills essential for young engineering and technology graduates to excel in their careers and beyond.

This fellowship offers a unique hybrid learning program designed to equip fellows with the resources needed to thrive in the evolving world of work.

The program features regular online discussions via WhatsApp and live virtual master classes, structured into three modules starting in March 2024, each requiring an assignment and feedback at its conclusion.

Designed to empower young women in engineering and technology as confident leaders in their respective industries, the program covers three key modules:

  • Leadership: Unlocking and Sharing Your Own Story
  • Innovation: Developing Skills for the Future World of Work
  • Employability: Flourishing in the Workplace

Additionally, well-being will be integrated into the modules to help fellows establish healthy coping mechanisms and manage stress.

Fellows will be full-time female students studying engineering, built environment, or technology at a university or university of technology in South Africa, Botswana, or Namibia.

Eligibility

  • Open to all female engineering, technology, and built environment students.
  • Applicants must be studying full-time at a university or university of technology in South Africa, Botswana, or Namibia. Non-citizens of these countries are also eligible to apply.
  • Applicants should be in the penultimate or final year of undergraduate studies or pursuing full-time postgraduate studies, intending to enter the workforce in 2025 or 2026.
  • Applicants must be able to commit 7-9 hours each month from March 2024 for participation in the program. The program is designed to accommodate academic workloads and holidays.
  • Previous WomEng Fellowship alumni are not eligible to apply.
