About The EDD Debit Card

New cardholders
For new cardholders that have not received a card from the EDD before, the bank of America will mail you a card immediately after your very first benefit payment has been issued by the EDD. This can take up to 7 to 10 business days for you to receive your card in the mail.
You can activate your card online by visiting the bank of America debit card website and selecting the activate my card button. You can also activate your card by phone.
Existing Cardholders
For existing cardholders, know that your card is valid for three years from the issuance date and it can be used for all EDD benefit programs.
If you have participated previously in an EDD benefit program using a card and also began participating in an EDD benefit program again within three years if the date that the card was issued, you will not have any reason to wait for a new card in order to receive benefits.
The bank of America and the EDD will continue to load funds into your existing card and you will also have immediate access to them.
EDD Payments
It will take at least three weeks for to you process a claim for unemployment benefits and also issue payment to most eligible workers. Information in regards to payment for unemployment insurance is updated daily and it is also available via your UI online account.
