UVA Acceptance Rate, Class of 2023 – 2027

The University of Virginia Acceptance Rate Early Decision had 4,243 applicants, with 1,038 accepted, resulting in an acceptance percentage of 24.4%, while Early Decision had 36,000 applications received and only 6,000 admitted, resulting in an acceptance rate of 16.6%. For regular decision, 2182 students were admitted out of 16196 applicants, for a 13.4% acceptance rate.

Of the 56,439 students who applied to the UVA Class of 2027, the university extended admission offers to 9,220 students, resulting in a challenging UVA acceptance rate of 16.2%.

UVA’s Early Action and Regular Decision

Early Action: UVA accepted only 7,038 candidates to the Class of 2027 out of 40,243 applicants, for an early acceptance percentage of 17.4%.

Regular Decision: More than 16000 applicants applied to UVA for the regular decision cycle, with 2,182 accepted at a 13.4% acceptance rate.

The number of applications to UVA’s standard decision cycle for the class of 2027 was lower than for the early action cycle, but the acceptance rate was still lower. Based on these acceptance rates, it is recommended that you apply early to improve your chances of admission to UVA.

University of Virginia’s SAT, ACT, and GPA

The middle 50% of enrolled students at UVA scored between 690 and 750 on the SAT Reading and Writing portion and 710 and 790 on the SAT Math section. The approved students had ACT scores ranging from 32 to 35. Notably, 86% of first-year students admitted for the 2022–23 academic year were in the top 10% of their high school class. Furthermore, UVA has not disclosed cutoffs for GPA. The estimated average unweighted GPA for incoming UVA freshmen is roughly 3.9.
