The University of Alicante has Announced its first call for 2023; the Researchers Program for young African women researchers.

The University of Alicante Researchers Program is promoted by the Office of the Vice President for International Relations and Development Cooperation of the University of Alicante. The research program is offered in partnership with the Ministry of Participation, Transparency, Cooperation, and Democratic Quality, of the Valencian Government.

The research grants Provided are targeted towards women researchers in the pre-doctoral or postdoctoral stage, being citizens from participating countries and needing to complete their training by carrying out short-term research stays at the University of Alicante.

Benefits of the University of Alicante Researchers Program

The University of Alicante Research  grants will be distributed as follows, based on the duration:

  • One month: 2.000 € (Travelling from Spain)
  • One month: 2.500 € (Travelling from Africa)
  • Two month: 3.500 €
  • Three month: 4.500 €

About the University of Alicante

The University of Alicante (UA) is a prestigious institution founded in 1979 on the basis of the Center for University Studies (CEU), which was founded in 1968.

The University of Alicante has its main campus located in San Vicente del Raspeig/Sant Vicent del Raspeig, bordering the city of Alicante to the north. The university had over 27,000 students studying at the Institution as of 2011/12 academic year.

The Institution offers courses in more than fifty degrees across over seventy departments and research groups in areas of Social Science and Law, Experimental Science, Technology, Liberal Arts, Education and Health Sciences, and five research institutes.

The classes are taught in the Spanish language, while some are in English, in particular, in computer science and in business degrees, and a few are in the Valencian language.

How to Apply for the University of Alicante Researchers Program 2023?

Eligibility Criteria for University of Alicante Researchers Program Qualification

  • Candidates must come from Sub-Saharan African countries established in the following list: https://unstats.un.org/unsd/methodology/m49/ and Sudan. (see ‘Geographic Regions’ Sub-Saharan Africa)
  • Applicants must not receive another similar grant at the UA during the application period.
  • Candidates are expected to carry out the activity object of the grant within the period established in this call.
  • Do not have a residence permit in Spain, except for studies

Doctorate and postgraduate short stays:

  • Must possess citizenship of one of the African countries established in this call.
  • Be currently enrolled in a doctorate/postgraduate program at a university of one of the African countries established on these rules.
  • Must have obtained the acceptance of a research group from the University of Alicante.

Post-doctorate short stays:

  • Must possess citizenship of one of the African countries established in this call.
  • Must have obtained the acceptance of a research group from the University of Alicante

  • Doctor’s, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree
  • Completed accreditation of the publications completed
  • An acceptance letter from the research group of the University of Alicante
