UNESCO World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2024 (Funded)

The Ministry of Culture, through the Archaeological Survey of India, will be hosting the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2024 in Delhi, Republic of India. This event is an important component of the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee and falls under the UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme.

The Forum, taking place from 14 to 23 July 2024, aims to enhance the skills and capabilities of young professionals in safeguarding, conserving, and promoting our natural and cultural World Heritage sites. As active participants in their local communities, they will collaboratively explore ways to effectively implement the World Heritage Convention in the modern era. The program will cover global concepts of World Heritage and Sustainable Development, while also allowing participants to immerse themselves in the rich Indian heritage and its management practices.

At the conclusion of the Forum, the young professionals will present their Declaration to the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee, showcasing their insights and recommendations.

Costs

  • The host country will cover all expenses related to the Forum, including economy-class flights, accommodation, local transportation, and meals. The organizers will also assist participants with travel arrangements and provide support for visa requirements if needed.

Eligibility Criteria

The World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2024 is looking for participants who:

  • Are between the ages range of 23 and 32.
  • Have experience in World Heritage, conservation, archaeology, architecture, urban planning & regeneration, restoration, art history, tourism, climate change and digital technology.
  • Are enthusiastic and dedicated to implementing the Forum’s outcomes in their respective countries.
  • Want to involve communities in the management of World Heritage properties?
  • Are able to attend the entire duration of the Forum.
  • Are proficient in English, as the entire Forum will be conducted in this language.

Selection Criteria

Apart from general eligibility, the selection of participants will also take into account the following factors:

  • Balanced representation from different geographical regions
  • Gender equality
  • Diversity in professional backgrounds
  • The ability to share the gained experience with their home country or institution
  • Knowledge and experience in managing practices for World Heritage sites.

Application Process

  • The application form should be filled out exclusively in English. Applications submitted in languages other than English will not be taken into account. Besides providing education and background details, candidates must also include their CV and a passport-sized photo. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Candidates are required to submit the Online Application Form along with the necessary documents by 30th April 2024, 23:59 CET.
