The True Story Award seeks to discover exceptional stories from different parts of the world that shed light on local events from various viewpoints. It is a pioneering global journalism prize with the objective of amplifying the voices of journalists beyond their own countries’ boundaries, thereby enhancing the diversity of perspectives presented in the media.

True Story Award

This prestigious award is granted by an independent foundation and recognizes reporters who have distinguished themselves through extensive research, the excellence of their journalism, and its societal significance. Journalists writing in ten different languages are eligible for this recognition.

Benefits of True Story Award

The main purpose of the award is to bring together journalists from across the globe and facilitate dialogue between them and the audience in Bern. The local jury will carefully choose 36 nominees, with one representative per nominated text. These nominees will have the opportunity to showcase their work at the True Story Festival, which will take place from May 24-26, 2024.
